Yes, that's how I started my morning.
And no, I'm not upset, grumpy or irritated about it.
I thought it was the funniest thing. Especially since I've been so concerned about making sure everything was locked. Turns out, I've got nothing to worry about, because I can't even get in. HA!
Anyhow, so Matt, my FIL (father-in-law) came to my rescue. He took apart my garage door (which uses the same key as my kitchen door) and we took it to the locksmith who fixed my key problem.
So there goes my amusing story of the day.

A Mish Mash of Things
nothing specific to blog about, so here's a quick run down of a few things...
-Today is Tuesday. 2 more days of work. I'm off Friday for our shutter installation... which means, I'll be home all day. I think from 9-5. Except for the time I'll be meeting my boxing coach. That's an appointment that cannot be missed.
I'm way too excited about these shutters! I've been blogging about it for sometime now, I know. I will have pictures up soon- once we find the camera. Yes, it's been misplaced.
-I am sick. I hate being sick. Stuffy nose, cough, the whole nine yards. Yuck!
-The hubby comes home tonight. He doesn't have school/ work tomorrow, but he does have a lot of studying to do. However, it'll just be great to have him home. We've been so busy when he is home- lots of laundry, ironing, shoe shining, helmet cleaning, and more. I'm totally becoming a housewife when he's home. Such a strange thing for me. I don't know how to iron, and have no intentions of learning, so he's been doing that. I've been helping him fold laundry and a few other little things. I'm sure we'll get everything down to some sort of schedule so we won't feel so frantic on the weekends. I'm a schedule kind of gal- this totes has to help me!
-I don't need anything for the house (except for a new oven), nor do I care much for other people's design preferences. HOWEVER, there is just one things that's on my wish list as a housewarming gift (I hope my sisters or girlfriends take note- if you split the cost, it comes up to about $35 a person- split 4 ways)...
It's this magical thing called a Tassimo.
It makes lattes, cappuccinos, espressos, hot chocolate, regular coffee, steamed milk, tea. It's all in one, and it only costs $139. I'm a huge coffee plan, and this is def great! Plus, if you come over my house, I'll make you some :)

How Well Do You Know Your Husband?
I found this on someone's Facebook, so I decided to fill it out- it's Friday and it's slow...
Here's a chance to see how well you really know your husband. Cut, paste and fill in the answers, then forward . . . shoot, you know what to do. The real challenge is to send it to your spouse to see how right you really are.
1. He's sitting in front of the TV, what is on the screen?
The Colbert Report
2. You're out to eat/what kind of dressing on his salad?
None. He hates dressing. He'd ask for lemons.
3. What's one food he doesn't like?
Mushrooms- weird, cause I LOVE mushrooms!
4. You go out to eat and have a drink. What does he order?
We probably would be at Poquito Mas. He'd get a pasilla burrito and an iced tea.
5. Where did he go to high school?
El Camino
6. What size shoe does he wear?
10
7. What is his favorite type of sandwich?
He hates sandwiches, but if he ate one, it would be a turkey sandwich- toasted bread (wheat or potato) with a bit of may, mustard, lots of turkey, lettuce.
8. What would this person eat every day if he could?
Anything from the Poquito Mas menu- oh, and he does eat it everyday... and he's not fat!
9. What is his favorite cereal?
He's not a cereal person, but Captain Crunch if we have it.
10. What would he never wear?
Stuff I pick out. He's really picky about what he wears.
11. What is his favorite sports team?
He doesn't really watch sports. Except when we watch hockey, he goes for the Kings, when he's playing PSP, he plays as the Cowboys Football team.
12. Who did he vote for?
Obama
13. Who is his best friend?
Me- but someone he's known a long time, Dale and Sean... but he's also close to Chase
14. What is something you do that he wishes you wouldn't do?
Leave his study a mess.
15. What is his heritage?
All parts white
16. You bake him a cake for his birthday; what kind of cake?
not a cake, it would be a pie... Razzleberry.
17. Did he play sports in high school?
no
18. What could he spend hours doing?
Playing video games
19. What is one talent he has?
He likes everyone- he's really tolerant of people... so not like me!

Hairstyle makeover
While perusing someone else's blog, I found this great site http://hairmakeover.instyle.com
So I decided to play...
Please let me know your thoughts, as I'm really considering a few of these...
My fave is this:
The color would be just a little bit darker... I couldn't find the right one on the site.
Here's a few other looks...

Hooray it's Friday!
I am tired. I am glad it's Friday.
We've had so many changes occur in the past couple of months, and the most recent change was the start of the hubby's academy this week. His new sched will def take some getting used to.
Plus, there was a misunderstanding with a friend that has taken a lot out of me because it bothered me deeply.
There are so many things going on that I'm doing what I can to devote a little time to myself. This has meant me getting up early to go to the gym, since I never know what time I'll be getting off at night. This also means that when I get home, I can do all the household duties I need to do. I am functioning as a single mom for the next 18 weeks, so it's a challenge. Thank goodness I have a cleaning lady and a gardener!
So I hope that explains my lack of regular posts... and the lack of interesting ones at that.

Today is the day
that Milo's academy started.
Drill Tower 40 in San Pedro.
He left yesterday morning- very early, in the pouring rain. He had to meet his class at 9 AM.
Last night, was the first night I spent ALONE in the new house.
Weird experience. I was up every hour. The boys barked at everything.
I had the lights on for a bit. Turned it off. Turned the TV on for some company, then turned it off. Damn. This is going to take some getting used to for real.
I can only hope it gets easier as time goes by.
Milo comes home tonight. He's off tomorrow.
It'll be nice having someone to share the bed with. Too bad, it's only for tonight- that is, until Friday night.
He's off tomorrow, but going back mid day.
He'll be home Friday, Saturday night.
Then the cycle starts again.
18 weeks of this.
WOW. All good though. We'll get through it. Just like we've gotten through everything else. This is his dream come true. We give a little bit, in order to walk away with a lot.

BELLA
Today is Bella's birthday.
She is 2.
She's one of my favorite people in the world.
She loves to jump, and sing.
Her favorite song is Sing A Song.
So, for her birthday, the hubby and I got her this
Except it won't be here til sometime next week or the week after. I had to order it online. I can't wait til she sees it... then she can jump all she wants :)
I love you Belly (that's my pet name for her)!
Your presence is such a blessing. I am so grateful for you.

An Open Letter to the Universe
Dear Universe.
You have been incredibly great to me and the hubby.
You have gifted us with so much- beyond anything we could have asked for at such a young age. The hubby has a wonderful career ahead of him, we have a beautiful new home, neither of us are in danger of losing our jobs, we are both healthy, and we are in the midst of all our loved ones. What more could we ask for, you might say.
Well, simply this... E-N-O-U-G-H!
Enough with all the things that could possibly go wrong with the house.
Enough with more piled on stress before the hubby starts the academy.
Enough with all the broken things that need fixing.
Let the good times roll! Let us just enjoy our house, problem free, and experience all the wonderful things during this time of our lives. I know that perhaps this is a test. A test of how we handle things under fire.
Yes, we've stumbled and have both hosted a few pity parties here and there. However, I do believe that we are now handling things with grace.
So with that, please no more. At least not for a while.
We definitely would like to be in calmer waters for some time.
A quiet evening at home, with no house worries, would be great. Preferably this weekend- before the craziness of the Academy starts.
Thank you Universe! I know that all that happens is for the good of all, and part of some master plan. We've had our share for now, so please, NO MORE. ENOUGH!
xoxo

Homeownership 101
I wish someone gave us a crash course.
So much has already gone on! And yes, we did get a home inspection prior to closing etc.
So here's what's happened:
- We didn't have hot water for a few days. The tankless water heater that the previous owner installed had all sorts of problems- mainly that it was an indoor water heater but it was installed outside but in a little box. Home warranty does not cover it because it was improperly put on there, so we had to shell out $2500 for a new conventional water heater. I tell you this though, I've never been more grateful for hot water until Friday night- when I was able to take a steaming hot shower in our very own home. It was HEAVEN!
-I guess our pipes are dirty. Our washing machine is draining into the bathrooms.
Home warranty will be taking care of the problem.
-Our fridge didn't fit in its original spot. The cabinet above it was too low.
Thanks to Powers, he fixed our problem and it looks great.
The fridge is now in its spot.
We have a few things from Ikea that we purchased- like a desk for me for my office and a little kitchen nook. The hubby has to get all that together. He has this week.
Next week, the academy starts- on the 17th.
Our shutters get installed on the 27th. I can't wait!
Def pictures to come. I really hate things that are not finished... but I might be tempted to post just a few before pics, as in before the house is done for now...

Wednesday Quickie
Don't be dirty... Not that kind of quickie.
Just a quick update.
We are all moved in.
Things are in their place- except for the pictures on the walls, and the items in the garage.
The hubby also has to put our fence up.
The shutter install takes place at the end of the month.
Pictures will be up for sure.
The hubby had his family orientation for LA City Fire Department on Monday night.
It was definitely such a proud moment for me.
4 years ago, we were both sitting in our living room, in our very first apartment, practicing for his interview.
4 years later, here we are in our own home, getting him ready for the academy.
It is quite a defining moment for us!
I only wish my dad was here to see it.
