Updates with pictures!

So... this weekend was busy, but fun.
I was off Friday so I spent the morning working on the cake. From the moment I woke up, until about 1. The hubby and I needed to go to Pasadena to sign up with the Los Angeles Firemen's Credit Union... back story is that we've been screwed over at Chase (WaMu) quite a few times. The most recent one being Thursday night, when 4 of our accounts were compromised, thus prompting me to see Marlene, my personal banker, as I like to call her. I asked her to close all my accounts because I was done with Chase.

So I walked out of there, with my cash in my purse. Not advisable to do, esp. when you just want to run with all of it to Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale.
But anyhow, the hubby and I opened up new bank accounts. We're in deep with all this firemen thing, in case y'all haven't noticed. Anyhow, we hung out in Pasadena for a bit, then drove by HOly Trinity (the school I hope to be teaching at). I wanted to show the hubby around for a bit, while trying to avoid looking like a stalker.

Then, we headed home and I finished the cake, or Leo the Lion as I affectionately call him.

Saturday, was Harry Potter day. We saw it at the Arclight in Sherman Oaks at 10 am. I was able to do double duty and got a gift for The Girl from Junior High's Little Kangaroo. Afterwards, the hubby and I had lunch at The Stand with my sis, my niece, her bf, nd my nephew. It was a family affair!
Then the hubby and I had fun at The Little Kangaroo's 1st birthday.

The hubby worked the next day... last Sunday, this month!
I went to church, then Valley Brunette's brunch, plus a bonus trip to DSW, and Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale. I also somehow managed to squeeze in some pool time, and of course, no weekend is complete without a trip to TJ's for some groceries.

Hope this weeks moves pretty quickly! Plus, hope I get my call this week :)

One A Day

Ever since I've come to the conclusion that my job no longer satisfies me, and yes, since that one fateful Tuesday, it's become my other job to become employed as a teacher. I have been doing one thing a day (sometimes more) to help further my goal.
Weekends are no exceptions- in fact, I think I get a lot more done on the weekends.
So this past weekend, I...

*bought a few "teaching" clothes. Slacks, button down shirts, modest, yet fashionable tops. I am ready for the coming school year- late Summer, Fall. Bring it on!
I even have an outfit for parent teacher conferences! Of course, I only have the bare minimum so far, but enough to get me through. I do need a winning interview outfit- that I still have yet to figure out, especially because the weather will play a huge part in that.
A side note- these professional, more tailored clothes I bought are a total departure from what I wear daily, considering I usually go to work in gym clothes. Yes, gym clothes. I work out before work, and during my lunch. Then I work out again after work. And should I have a lunch meeting or a dinner, I usually just wear jeans. Casual- very! So I'm excited to be dressing up.

*dug out all my old college essays. I have a huge stack of them.
I have yet to re- read through all of them, but I have them.

*acquired a few books that will refresh my memory, should I happen to get the high English teacher job that I am applying for. That is actually my top choice. I am prepared to tackle novels and poems. A big thank you to my hubby for buying these for me- they were my career switch gift :)

*printed hard copies of my cover letter and resume, put them in an envelope, and got them ready to be mailed out. All 21 of them. Maybe 22.
I will then start my day tomorrow by taking these to the post office, along with a prayer that I will soon be called for an interview.

*received my first letter of recommendation, from my dear friend, M (The Teacher).
I am so grateful for her help. And she really has helped me out through all this.

So, I am definitely well on my way to teaching at a school near you!

But, until then...

Spring is in the air!

Which means something new is about to happen around here.
Stay tuned! I'm not one for surprises, nor am I one for keeping my mouth shut, but I thought I'd try it just this once.
Let's see how long I can hold it for.

*OK- and NO, we are not preggers, which means we are not having a baby*

On another note, had a great day at the mall today. I def can do damage at that place, and my activities today totes proved that.
I SOOO deserved it. Thanks to my two shopping buddies, Priscilla Miscilla, and Little Miss A.

Please refer to a previous post from a few days ago when I reiterate this...

One of the reasons I like the hubby is...

-Because no matter how much I shop and how much money I spend you never get really mad (and we both know I have expensive taste).

Even though nothing that cost too much was purchased today, a lot of little things were that add up to one big amount. I have reached my shopping quota for the month, and damn, it's not even mid month yet. Yikes!
